Women's Cross Country Places Third at NAC Championship

FARMINGTON, Maine – Led by a pair of top 10 finishes by Kaylyn Crompton and Miranda Messeck, the Castleton women's cross country team placed third at the North Atlantic Conference Championship on Saturday at Mount Blue High School hosted by UMaine-Farmington.

Crompton led the way for Castleton with a fourth-place finish out of 95 runners in the five-kilometer race with a time of 20:39.4, just 12 seconds shy of a top three finish. Messeck followed closely in seventh place after clocking in 21:37.9.

Lydia Maier came in 16th place after crossing the line in 22:20.5, just ahead of teammate Rachael Emery in 20th place with a time of 22:42.5. Megan Greene found herself in 25th place overall with a time of 23:25.4, while Ali Nelson came in 31st at 24:01.6. Emily Maier placed 41st overall with a time of 25:01.7, just ahead of Adrienne Toof in 46th with a time of 25:24.2.

Castleton placed third as a team with 71 total points, 11 points behind UMaine-Farmington (60) for second place. Colby-Sawyer captured the NAC Championship with a score of 43 points behind three top 10 finishers. Husson placed fourth with 141 points, while Lyndon rounded out the top five with 164 points.

The Spartans will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 11, for the Division III New England Regional hosted by Southern Maine.
