GILBERT, Ariz. -- This year, 197 Division III student-athletes were named to the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFCHA) Division III All-Region teams. Each team is separated into six regions, Great Lakes, New England East, New England West, North Atlantic, South Atlantic, and South. After posting career numbers in her junior season, Castleton University's Gabriella Hunt was named to the New England West Second Team, as released by the entity on December 3.
The junior from Granville, N.Y., led the Spartans to an impressive second season in the Little East Conference (LEC) as the team finished with an 11-8 (8-4 LEC) record. She took a large leap forward, posting career highs in many offensive categories during the 2019 season. After recording 37 points (13 goals and 11 assists) during her sophomore campaign, Hunt improved offensively and led the team by posting 43 points (18 goals and seven assists) this past season.
Hunt recorded a point in 12 of the 19 games she played in this past season, highlighted by her nine point performance (four goals and one assist) against Salem State on October 23. She came alive offensively as she tallied a hat trick against Morrisville State and recorded four goals against Bridgewater State and Salem State.
Hunt's signature performance this past season came in the team's 4-0 win over Fitchburg State on October 29. She tallied a goal at the 2:04 mark of the first quarter and became the sixth player in program history to record 100 career points. Hunt currently sits on 102 career points and is only nine points away from passing former teammate Sarah Wells for fifth on the program's all time points list.
