WATERVILLE, Maine – After facing a fierce Plattsburgh State offense in the first start of his collegiate career, sophomore goalkeeper Brandon Myron has been named the North Atlantic Conference Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week, announced Monday by the league office.
In a match where Plattsburgh State attempted 60 total shots, Myron earned a career-high 14 saves, keeping the Spartans in the match for most of the afternoon. He helped Castleton outscore the Cardinals 3-2 in the third quarter by collecting two saves, and then he earned seven saves in the fourth quarter as Plattsburgh State kept the pressure on all 60 minutes.
Before last Wednesday's start, Myron played over 132 minutes in six matches during the 2016 season, earning 19 saves for a .679 save percentage and a 4.07 goal against average. The Plattsburgh State match was the first time Myron had played a complete game for the Spartans in his collegiate career.
