Rutland, Vt. - The Spartans utilized some spectacular doubles play to cruise to an 8-1 victory over Green Mountain College in their match in Rutland on Wednesday, Mar. 13.
Castleton's doubles pairs swept the Eagles to earn an early 3-0 advantage and never looked back. Adam McCaffery and Mike Glasser earned an 8-5 win at the first flight, while Zac Conlogue and Sam Levine notched an 8-2 win at second doubles. Mike Divis and Reece Gesick teamed at third doubles to close out an 8-4 win.
In singles, the Spartans won five of six flights to finish off the Eagles. Corey Kimball notched a 6-0, 6-0 win at sixth singles, while Glasser, McCaffery, Divis, and Conlogue were all double-winners on the day.
Green Mountain got their lone point of the day at the first singles flight where Connor Braden took down Levine 6-2, 6-3.
Castleton improves to 3-0 on the year and will return to action on Tuesday, Mar. 19 when they travel to Colby-Sawyer.
