Danbury, Conn. - The Spartans fell 9-0 on Sunday, Apr. 14 to Southern Maine in a non-conference match, halting their four-match winning streak.
Castleton started out in a 3-0 hole after being swept in the doubles flights, and never recovered. Adam McCaffery and Mike Glasser fell 8-1 at first doubles, while the second doubles pairing of Will Levine and Matt Trombley fell by the same score. At third doubles, Corey Kimball and Mike Divis also fell 8-1.
In the singles flights, the Spartans struggled to keep pace with the Huskies. McCaffery put up a tough fight, but couldn't gain an edge, falling 6-4, 6-2 at third singles. Kimball suffered his first singles loss of the year, dropping a match at the fifth flight 6-3, 6-1.
Castleton falls to 8-3 on the year and will take on conference opponent MCLA on Thursday, Apr. 18 in Rutland, Vt.
