Men's Tennis Rebounds; Coasts Past NVU-Lyndon

RUTLAND, Vt. - Six shutout decisions in nine matches played led the Castleton University men's tennis team past visiting Northern Vermont University-Lyndon - 9-0 - on Saturday afternoon at the Grand Slam Tennis Center.

Castleton earns its first win of the 2019 campaign, improving to 1-2 overall; NVU-Lyndon drops its first match of the year and falls to 0-1.

Rolling from the get-go, the doubles teams of Igor Almeida and Nate Hinson, as well as Spencer Butter and Ethan Cameron-Vaupel, recorded 8-0 shutout victories.

In singles action, Almeida picked up her second victory of the day and the year with a comprehensive 6-0, 6-0 thumping of his opponent. Following suit at third, fourth and sixth singles, Levi Williams, Tripp Norris and Cameron-Vaupel posted the exact same scoreline, respectively. 

Elsewhere, Butter (fifth singles) and Hinson (second singles) dropped just one game each in the second set to post 6-0, 6-1 scores.

Men's tennis returns to action at 4 p.m. on Wednesday as they face MCLA in nonconference action at Grand Slam Tennis.
