CASTLETON, Vt. – Five players from the Castleton women's tennis team earned NEAC East All-Conference honors Friday morning following a season in which the Spartans went 10-2 overall, with a 5-2 conference record.
Ciara Bannister, Jackie Lisak, Sara Novenstern, and Meg Susslin all earned Second Team honors in singles play. Bannister posted a 9-1 mark in singles play, including a nine-match winning streak to close out the season. Lisak finished 11-1 overall, with her play evenly split between the second and third flight of singles action. Novenstern posted a 6-4 record against the top players in the league at the No. 1 position, while Susslin was 5-2 overall with most of her action coming in the No. 2 spot.
Castleton took two out of three Second Team honors in doubles play, with the pairing of Bannister and Kirsten Kruk, as well as the duo of Lisak and Novenstern taking home the honors. Bannister and Kruk went 9-1 at No. 2 doubles on the year, ending the regular season on a seven-match winning streak. Lisak and Novenstern went 7-3 in doubles action out of the top flight for the Spartans.
Kruk was also named to the Sportsmanship Team, which is a new award reserved for those who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior.

The Spartans will travel to New London, N.H. tomorrow to compete in the NEAC East Championship hosted by Colby-Sawyer. Castleton will face of with Husson at 10:00 a.m. in the semifinal round of the tournament.
