Three Spartans Land NEAC East All-Conference Honors

CASTLETON, Vt. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference East Division has recognized three members of the Castleton women's tennis program following a regular season in which the Spartans finished 4-3 in NEAC East. 

Ciara Bannister has reeled in Second Team All-Conference in singles for the second consecutive year after earning second team honors in both singles and doubles one year ago. Bannister posted a 4-3 conference record this season against the league's best, playing all seven matches in first singles action. 

Kirsten Kruk has also been tabbed Second Team All-Conference in singles after tallying a team-best nine wins in No. 3 singles action. The sophomore led the team with a 9-4 overall record and finished 5-2 in conference play. Kruk is also a reigning All-Conference member, earning second team honors in doubles play last season.

Junior Kayla Zsido has been named to the Sportsmanship Team, which awards those who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior.

The NEAC East Women's Tennis Sportsmanship Team is reserved for those who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. The honorees are individuals who have positively affected the women's tennis culture and match environment and whose behavior clearly demonstrates sportsmanship and integrity that go beyond the tennis playing rules and etiquette.

Castleton will host the NEAC East Division Championship on Saturday. The fourth-seeded Spartans will face top-seeded Colby-Sawyer in the first round, scheduled for 10 a.m.
