Women's Cross Country Competes in UMass-Dartmouth Invitational

DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- The Castleton University women's cross country team competed in the five-kilometer UMass-Dartmouth Invitational Saturday morning. 

Kaylyn Crompton finished the race in 61st place out of 263 runners from all three NCAA divisions to lead the Spartans. She shaved off 31 seconds from a season ago with a time of 20:05.73.

Freshman Giselle Rainville, competing in her first UMass-Dartmouth Invitational, finished 128thwith a time of 21:10.26. Junior Lydia Maier finished right behind in 138thplace with a time of 21:21.23.

Rounding out the scoring for the Spartans was Birgit Kinneberg (165th– 21:56.65), Martina Comas-Altland (204th– 23:20.37), and Emerald Fagan-Trapeni (241st– 25:55.13). 

Holy Cross took the team title with 83 points. They were followed by Mount Holyoke (92 points), Worcester Polytechnic Institute (129 points), Trinity (165 points), and St. Anselm (212) in the top-five in team scoring.

Women's cross country will return to action this Friday, September 27 as it competes in the Vermont State Meet. The event will be held at Castleton University and the women's race is slated to begin at 4:30 p.m.
